What’s Happening

SuppCo has officially launched TESTED by SuppCo, a certification program aimed at improving transparency in the supplement industry by independently verifying product contents.

The program anonymously purchases supplements directly from retailers and then sends them to ISO-accredited third-party laboratories for analysis.

Products that pass the program must meet strict standards, including verifying that the product contains at least 95% of the labeled active ingredients listed on the supplement facts panel.

If a product meets those standards, it earns the TESTED by SuppCo certification badge, which brands can display to demonstrate verified quality.

Unlike many certification programs that test products provided by the brand itself, SuppCo’s approach focuses on products purchased from the open market, which the company argues better represents what consumers are actually buying.

Why It Matters

Supplement transparency has become a growing concern across the industry.

Past investigations into supplement quality have shown that some products contain significantly less active ingredients than listed on their labels, while others may contain contaminants or undeclared ingredients.

Certification programs like NSF Certified for Sport, USP Verified, and Informed Choice have already become major trust signals for consumers.

SuppCo’s TESTED program enters that space with a slightly different approach — focusing on retail product verification instead of manufacturer-submitted samples.

If the program gains traction, it could increase pressure on supplement companies to prioritize quality control and label accuracy.
