What’s Happening
OMORPHO has partnered with HYROX to launch the G-Vest Icon HYROX, an official special-edition weighted vest designed specifically around the demands of HYROX training.
The vest uses OMORPHO's MicroLoad technology, which distributes small amounts of weight across the torso rather than concentrating resistance in a few large plates. The low-profile, body-hugging design is intended to add resistance while allowing athletes to maintain natural movement during running and functional exercises.
The women's G-Vest starts at 6 pounds and can be increased to 12 pounds using additional G-Pack weight inserts. The men's version starts at 10 pounds and can be increased to 20 pounds. The design also features a front zipper, adjustable torso sizing cords, elastic side cords, and construction intended to minimize movement and chafing during high-intensity training.
The product is specifically positioned around preparing athletes for HYROX's race structure, which combines 8 kilometers of running with eight functional workout stations. OMORPHO says adding resistance during training can be used to develop running endurance and power for the different movements athletes encounter during competition.
The G-Vest HYROX was also tested during high-intensity race simulations at the HYROX Performance Center in California, and specialized beginner, intermediate, and pro-level training programs have been developed around using the vest. The beginner program will be available online, while intermediate and pro programs are planned exclusively for G-Vest customers later this fall.
The G-Vest Icon HYROX launched August 20 exclusively through OMORPHO, priced at $279 for the women's version and $299 for the men's version.
Why It Matters
HYROX requires athletes to move repeatedly between endurance running and strength-based workout stations, creating training demands that differ from traditional road racing or strength competitions. A weighted vest designed around those specific movement patterns gives athletes another way to increase training intensity without having to substantially change the exercises themselves.
The collaboration also brings an officially HYROX-focused piece of equipment into a category that is expanding alongside hybrid racing. Instead of adapting generic weighted vests to HYROX workouts, OMORPHO has built this edition around dynamic movement, running, and functional strength while keeping the resistance distributed across the body.
Bigger Picture
HYROX's growth is creating a larger ecosystem of products designed specifically for hybrid athletes. Footwear, apparel, training programs, recovery tools, and now resistance equipment are increasingly being developed around the demands of athletes who need both endurance and strength rather than specializing in one discipline.
The OMORPHO partnership shows how that ecosystem is becoming more specialized. As hybrid fitness establishes itself as a distinct training category, equipment companies have an opportunity to build products specifically around race preparation instead of simply repurposing equipment originally developed for running, bodybuilding, or general conditioning.
