Kool-Aid has launched its first-ever hydration-focused product line with the release of Kool-Aid Hydration electrolyte drink mixes, marking a major shift for the legacy beverage brand into the functional beverage category.

The new mixes are available in Tropical Punch, Grape, and Blue Raspberry Lemonade flavors and are designed to combine classic Kool-Aid taste profiles with hydration-focused functionality. Each serving contains four key electrolytes: sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium while remaining sugar-free and dye-free.

The launch is especially notable because it marks the first Kool-Aid powder made without artificial dyes, instead using ingredients like vegetable juice and spirulina extract for coloring. The move aligns with Kraft Heinz’s broader commitment to remove artificial FD&C colors from its portfolio by the end of 2027.

Each serving contains 15 calories and approximately 330mg of sodium, positioning the formula closer to performance-oriented hydration products than traditional soft drinks. The product is sold in portable single-serve stick packs through retailers including Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Hy-Vee.

The launch also reflects Kool-Aid’s broader push to modernize its image as younger consumers increasingly gravitate toward functional beverages and electrolyte products.
