Kiprun has introduced the KIPNEXT CONNECT, a new running shoe designed to monitor its own midsole wear in real time using embedded sensor technology.

The shoe features a built-in sensor called SOLLO, a lightweight, battery-free chip integrated directly into the midsole and upper. This sensor continuously measures how much the foam compresses during use, tracking the degradation of cushioning over time.

The data is transmitted to a companion mobile app, where it is converted into a wear percentage that reflects how much cushioning performance remains. Runners can access the data by holding their smartphone near the shoe, similar to a contactless payment interaction.

This system is designed to solve a long-standing issue in running: knowing when a shoe is no longer providing adequate support. While outsole wear is visible, midsole breakdown is not, even though it plays a major role in comfort and injury risk.

Beyond the tech, the KIPNEXT CONNECT is built as a high-cushion daily trainer. It features a high-stack midsole with supercritical foam designed for long-distance running and high mileage.

The shoe is expected to launch in late 2026, with pricing reported around the premium running shoe range.
