What’s Happening
Khloud has launched a new Protein Chips line in Nacho, Buffalo, and Sweet Heat. Food Dive says the chips launched exclusively at Target on April 8, with Khloud’s own site and broader media coverage confirming the category expansion from popcorn into tortilla-style protein chips.
Khloud says the chips contain 7g of protein per serving, while Food & Wine reports 170 calories per serving and notes the chips are made with whole-grain non-GMO corn, pea protein, and avocado oil. Khloud also markets the line around no seed oils, gluten-free positioning, and cleaner-label ingredients.
Why It Matters
This gives Khloud a more conventional snacking format than protein popcorn, which could make the brand easier to scale. Chips are also a better fit for mass retail because shoppers already understand the category immediately, even if the protein proposition is new.
Bigger Picture
Celebrity-backed food brands only start to feel durable when they prove they can expand beyond one novelty hit. Khloud’s move into chips suggests the company wants to build an actual platform, not just ride a single product wave.
