What's Happening
Jams has officially added Banana to its Protein PB&J lineup, bringing another familiar peanut butter pairing to its growing collection of frozen, crustless sandwiches.
The new flavor combines soft white bread and smooth peanut butter with a creamy banana-inspired filling, offering a different profile from the sweeter fruit flavors that established the lineup. Banana follows the original Strawberry and Berry varieties and arrives as Jams continues expanding the range with additional flavors such as Grape.
Each sandwich delivers 10 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber, 6 grams of sugar, and 260 calories. The product is also made without seed oils, artificial colors, or high-fructose corn syrup, maintaining the nutritional positioning of the existing Protein PB&J line.
Banana has gone directly into national distribution at Walmart, where the frozen sandwiches are sold in boxes of four for $5.98. The product is designed to remain frozen until use, giving consumers a convenient grab-and-go option built around one of the most recognizable sandwich combinations.
Why It Matters
Peanut butter and banana is already an established combination in fitness and everyday snacking, making it a natural extension for a brand attempting to modernize the traditional PB&J. The 10 grams of protein gives Jams a functional angle while preserving the convenience and familiarity of a frozen sandwich.
The expansion also shows that Jams is moving beyond simply recreating conventional jelly flavors. Banana gives the lineup a distinctly different eating experience and provides another reason for existing customers to return to the freezer section as the brand builds out its flavor portfolio.
Bigger Picture
Protein continues to move into familiar foods that historically had little connection to sports nutrition. Instead of asking consumers to rely exclusively on bars, shakes, and powders, emerging brands are adding meaningful amounts of protein to sandwiches, breakfast foods, snacks, and other products people already understand.
Jams fits directly into that shift by taking an established freezer-aisle format and rebuilding it around protein and a simplified ingredient proposition. With Banana now joining its expanding flavor lineup and receiving national Walmart distribution from launch, the company is showing how functional foods can compete through familiarity and convenience rather than creating entirely new eating occasions.
