What’s Happening

The fast-growing protein brand David appears to be preparing a move into the frozen dessert category with a rumored high-protein ice cream product.

Instagram post

Early reports suggest the ice cream could contain around:

  • 30 grams of protein per pint

  • approximately 260 calories

  • around 2 grams of sugar

A Cookies & Cream flavor has been spotted in early promotional materials circulating online.

While the product has not yet been officially released, the company reportedly previewed the concept around Expo West, one of the largest natural products trade shows in the United States.

David has quickly gained attention in the functional snack category with its ultra-high-protein bars, which often push higher protein numbers than many competing brands.

Why It Matters

The high-protein ice cream category has been growing steadily since brands like Halo Top helped popularize better-for-you frozen desserts.

However, most products in the category typically deliver 15–20 grams of protein per pint.

If David’s rumored macros hold true, the product would enter the category with significantly higher protein levels, which could make it appealing to gym-focused consumers.

It would also mark a major expansion for the brand beyond its core protein bar lineup.
