What's Happening
David Protein milkshakes have begun appearing in retailer listings in Chocolate and Vanilla, taking the brand from bars and frozen pints into ready-to-drink beverages. The 12-ounce bottles list 30 grams of protein and less than 1 gram of sugar. Vanilla lists 140 calories, while Chocolate lists 150 calories.
Product imagery indicates the formula uses ultrafiltered skim milk and EPG, the modified fat ingredient used elsewhere in David's portfolio. Instacart has product pages for both flavors, but David's own site does not yet have a milkshake page or a formal launch announcement.
Why It Matters
A bottled shake gives David a portable format with more potential consumption occasions than a bar or a pint. It also moves the brand into a mature category where protein quantity, sugar, taste and convenience are compared quickly at the shelf.
The nutrition panel provides a clear hook, but the rollout details are still incomplete. Without confirmed pricing, named retail partners or a release schedule from David, shoppers cannot tell whether this is a limited test, a regional placement or the start of a national launch.
Bigger Picture
The ready-to-drink protein market is crowded, so a new bottle needs more than a large protein number to earn repeat purchases. David's differentiation could come from carrying the same low-sugar positioning and EPG-based formulation into a familiar format rather than inventing a new use case.
Retail-first sightings often precede a formal announcement, but they can also overstate availability. Until David publishes its own product page and distribution details, the milkshakes are best understood as an early retail rollout rather than a fully documented national launch.
