What's Happening

Applied Nutrition has officially launched its Chiquita collaboration flavors for Critical Whey Protein in the United States, expanding one of its most recognizable international partnerships into the U.S. market.

The rollout includes Chiquita Banana and Chiquita Strawberry Banana flavors, both built around the brand’s flagship Critical Whey Protein formula. The flavors were previously available in the UK and other international markets before making their U.S. debut.

Critical Whey Protein uses a blend of whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, and hydrolyzed whey protein. Each serving delivers 21 grams of protein while also including naturally occurring amino acids and BCAAs from the whey sources.

The Chiquita partnership gives the product licensed branding built around the globally recognized fruit company, with flavor systems designed to mimic classic banana and strawberry banana profiles associated with the brand.

The products are available directly through Applied Nutrition’s U.S. website and specialty supplement retailers carrying the brand.

Why It Matters

Licensed flavor collaborations continue to be a major driver in the protein category, helping brands stand out through familiarity and brand recognition.

For Applied Nutrition, bringing the Chiquita partnership to the U.S. expands a proven international collaboration into one of the world’s largest supplement markets while giving consumers something different from traditional chocolate and vanilla offerings.

Bigger Picture

Protein brands are increasingly leaning into licensed partnerships with recognizable food and beverage companies to differentiate in a saturated category.

These collaborations create instant familiarity for consumers while allowing supplement brands to tap into nostalgia and mainstream branding without changing core formulas.
