Refresh and recharge after a workout with this watermelon smoothie.
Nothing says summer like watermelon. It’s sweet, refreshing, and packed with the amino acid known as citrulline. Researchers have linked this naturally occurring amino acid to reduced muscle soreness, which makes watermelon the perfect pre- or post-workout snack. And while it’s delicious as cubes or slices, this super easy watermelon smoothie just takes it to the next level. Here’s the recipe:
1 whole mini seedless watermelon, cubed
1-inch piece of ginger peeled and finely chopped
1 TBSP lime juice
Water, as needed
When we say this recipe is super simple, we mean it’s super simple.
To prepare the smoothie, all you need to do is add all the ingredients to a blender and blend. You may need to add a little water to get all of the ingredients to mix properly. You may also want to add some cubed or crushed ice to give the smoothie more of a slushie consistency.
You can also add in your favorite supplement powders, like pre-workout or glutamine, to take this smoothie to the next level.
Once the mixture reaches a consistency you’re satisfied with, it’s ready to serve. Pour into a glass, and enjoy!
