Everyone’s fitness journey is different. Some seamlessly go through the process with what appears to be minimal effort while getting mind-blowing results. Then you have others who find themselves in front of what seems like insurmountable mountains they need to overcome along the way. Regardless, the key is to stay motivated on your fitness journey.
In this article, we are going to look at three ways to help you stay motivated on your fitness journey. We’ve teamed up with CrossFit athlete Christian Harris to hear some of the strategies that helped him, and how you can implement these very same strategies to help you get the results you desire.
The unfortunate part of a fitness journey is the fact that results don’t happen overnight. As the weeks and months go by, many people lose interest. To stay motivated on your fitness journey, you need to look back and remember why you started in the first place. Perhaps it was to achieve a personal goal you set for yourself, or maybe you have dreams and aspirations of making it to the CrossFit Games one day.
Don’t lose sight of your end goal just because the journey isn’t as simple as going from Point A to Point B quickly. You may need to move all over the map before you get to your destination, but the key is not to lose sight of why you started in the first place and keep pushing forward. Anything worth achieving takes time and dedication. Stay motivated and stay the course — good things will come.
Who doesn’t like to treat themself to something nice? Even better, why not reward yourself with something that can help you stay motivated on your fitness journey and help you move closer to your goals?
For instance, if you stick to your plan for 30 days and are seeing results, reward yourself with a piece of gear that can help you in the gym. Maybe it’s a new pair of training shoes, some new joggers, or a gym bag to hold all your stuff?
In the case of Harris, that new piece of gear is the AIRWAAV mouthpiece. Harris mentioned, “The AIRWAAV mouthpiece helps protect your teeth and helps with better breathing. You mold your mouthpiece to your bottom teeth, which is slightly different from a mouthguard you would wear for sports. The mouthpiece helps create the optimal airway opening.”
Using workout and fitness gear that can improve performance would be a great way to reward yourself, help you further progress, and stay motivated on your fitness journey.
When speaking with Harris about how to stay motivated on your fitness journey, he brought up the importance of setting realistic and attainable goals.
Harris said, “The biggest thing is to make sure that whatever your fitness regimen is, it’s something that is very attainable and achievable. What I mean by this is for someone just starting their fitness journey, if they try to take on too much too soon, it becomes something that is not sustainable on a consistent basis and will cause them to burn out or give up on it early. You want your fitness regimen to be a habit, a non-negotiable, something you do routinely — like brushing your teeth every morning. If you can do that, you will have the discipline to stay consistent. You won’t always have the motivation to work out, but if you are disciplined, nothing can stop you.”
